abwsco
Just wondered how many of you use organic feed as this is what I want to do when I get my chickens. Also, how much feed do you allow per chicken. Sure I've read it before but can't find it now Thanks
BarbaraJ
I use organic layers mash and just fill the grub with it, though that can last up to 4-5 days at the moment as they are not laying yet!
Christian
Chickens should eat approximately 100-125g of pellets or mash per day when they are laying. Feed should be left out for them to take when they want it. Thats what most of us do. They will 'graze' all day, and pop back in to eat in between dust bathing, preening, scratching around and doing chickeny things I use 'Marriages' layers mash which is non organic but free from GM ingredients. The organic is difficult to get hold of around here.
chelsea
I use organic, i switched over about a month or so ago. I buy online and use the organic feed company which is the same as which omlet sells. Its proved very popular here amongst my chooks, they eat loads more compared to the other pellets we were serving,...they never seem to have their heads out of their grub these days! abwsco
Thanks everyone. Chelsea, do the organic feed company only sell 5kg bags online as that's all I can see on their site. Our local store said they do an organic feed at £12.95 for the biggest bag- think this will be the 20kg one (hubby was with me and couldn't see the point in me going there as we haven't even got the chickens yet

You could always get the 20 kg sacks from Omlet - however, at £10 plus carriage, the cost is much the same as 4 small bags..... D.
