MedusA
The girls were making a commotion just now, so I went to investigate. Treacle was in the eglu trying to lay an egg and Scully was inside too, obviously desperate to lay and was anxiously trying to oust her from the nest! I have never seen this happen before (they always seem to queue up nicely). Has anyone else witnessed this?
The Dogmother
Mine often double-bunk-up on the nest - the record is for three of them all laying at once - it looks so funny!
chelsea
I've never seen one actually turfed off the nest, but my Maran makes some very strange noises and actions when she's waiting to lay, even though my cube can allow 3 to lay at one time they still go in one at a time! MedusA
That's a relief! My OH just went to check and 2 of them were sharing the nest and the third one is now getting ready too. I've never had an egg traffic jam before. So I was a little Should be fun when the Silkies come into lay!
superjules
Should be fun when the Silkies come into lay! Should be even more fun when they go broody and won't get off the nest!
Snowy
Mine all like to lay in the same place in the cube, so I put two small washing upbowls in to create two distinct areas. But they still only like to use one We often get a bottle neck - three in one bowl, until one gives in and uses the other bowl Silly chooks!
