Geoid
Tempting though razor wire is, if the little darlings injure themselves, it would be you that would be in trouble. Ziggy
Tempting though razor wire is, if the little darlings injure themselves, it would be you that would be in trouble. Are you sure, if its on your property, then its at their risk.... Well sadly it seems to be that you are liable for anything that happens to an intruder while they are on your property... I remember checking that with a friend when a neighbour's young toddler kept coming into our garden at any time without us knowing, and I was worried the little girl might drown in our paddling pool... I thought, if the parents don't look after her and let her wander into my garden, it's their own problem, but actually if the child had got injured in my garden, I'd have been liable according to what our friend told me (he's a lawyer), but then again our house insurance would also cover it (damage to third party or something like that)... So if anyone gets hurt because of something hazardous and harmful in your house or garden, yes you can get in trouble... doesn't seem fair when intruders come and damage your things, does it? I guess it might have been introduced to stop people taking exaggerated measures (like seriously injuring someone for just stepping onto one's property without threatening one's safety), but then that's just a guess... Egluntyne
That isn't how the courts would look at it Fred, especially if you had deliberately put something there to injure people. Topsy Turvey I know, but it is not worth the risk. They would be suing you.
Couperman
But if someone were to hurt themselves falling into your rather innocent and strategically placed coldframes, that of course would be different. And surely bamboo sticks are for growing runner beans up, only the Viet Cong would use them inappropriately. Brambles or other nasty spikey thorny plants are the way forward, just as effective as razorwire only you didn't put the sharp bits there, Mother Nature did! That I know IS totally legal and the CPI will probably advise you to plant them around your perimeter. Flimsy trellis is harder to climb than solid fences, "Ooops, word censored!"ody would want to climb something that clearly won't take their weight especially if they can see they might fall into something unpleasant, like a pit full of rabid wolverines for example None of the above was derived from my own experience by the way Kev. Janty
Pyracantha bushes are a good one to plant. They have huge nasty spikes and are even recommended by the crime prevention / home safety/ whatever they are called branch of the police.
