poachedegg
Is it better to have a soil base or concrete base for a permanent Eglu site? Pros and cons would be appreciated. Thanks
Christian
For 18 months, my eglu sat on earth, until a rat dug into the run and feasted on layers mash I now have 2 eglus on paving slabs and find it much more secure (from rats) and much easier to clean. Lift off the runs and s"Ooops, word censored!"e away the used aubiose () then hose down and you're done! My girls do free range most days, all day, so dust bathe in their corner of the garden. Egluntyne
Mine are on slabs....for the same reason as Christians!
SAB
Our rablu was on our grass until our healthy rabbits suddenly died and we discovered (from finding out about the history of our area) that we were on an old slag heap from a mine and therefore lots of heavy metals in the soil. The vet thinks that this is what killed our poor bunnies. Rablu now has been relocated on slabs for over a year and all well. Because of this experience we will be placing our Cube on slabs too. poachedegg
Thanks Eglutine & SAB. Eglu is coming next Tuesday, so OH is going to lay some extra slabs down and put a double layer of bricks to make an area. Not sure yet whether to go with Hemcore or Wood Chippings.
