hayhatch
I was just wandering if anyone has had any experience with these breeders. I've seen them recommended on here. Also if I wasn't to get chickens from Omlet which breed of chook would be best for a beginner?
bellekatz
I had 2 birds from there last year. They are nice people and I believe they have an eglu/cube on show as well now.
Phonix
hey hayhatch I was thinking of getting chooks from here too... I can't tell you anything about it though because Im no-where near getting my chooks yet I also looked at Pimlotts Poultry - swinging towards here as they have some of the breeds I really like the look of! cluckbok
Hi ya, For a beginner like us too, we recommend the Columbine, Calder Ranger (Gingernut Ranger) Speckeldy. The columbine is the most friendlist, though they are all friendly. She follows hubby everywhere. They very inquistivie birds, very funny. Aunty e
I had a less than brilliant experience with them, one of the chickens came with Myco and they both died very young - however, I think they have been taken under new management since then. Pimlotts poultry are really good too. My 4 new girls came from there last month. They go to farmers markets in the NorthWest and will bring birds with them if you want. We spent half an hour chatting to William about Chickens and Eglus (of which he is a fan) whilst stroking our new girls. Lovely people and the girls have been so friendly
craftyhunnypie
I wouldn't go to garden poultry! I ordered 3 birds from them & they never got back to me. I didn't like the conditions the birds were kept in - extremely muddy & so locked in all day. I know some people on here had chickens from them that came with red mite!!! I went a place called Creag Mhor Poultry a few days later & the conditions there were excellent, including a foot dip to protect the birds from anything you might be carrying on your shoes. Both me Karen&Co & someone from Wales got birds from Creag Mhor on the same day. I've been very pleased with them. ~If you need details -PM me. alih
I have had a really good experience with Garden Poultry - one of my Omlets dies after only 3 weeks so I rang and went the same day and the lady who runs it, Lisa, is lovely - she showed me around ( eglus on show!) and I got to choose my chicken who has been wonderful - easy, friendly and a great layer too. all the chickens were running about in their big fields and seemed very happy....I would recommend them any time.
