Flo
Wow, I had never thought about making my own butter I will have to give this a go. I have been looking for buttermilk for ages and the only placeI have found it is Sainsbury's. I use it to make Irish Soda bread every week which is just delicious. I love the butter churn too, where on earth did you get that from?
Tessa the Duchess
Yes Rachel I mix a little bit of oil into it and does easier to spread...... Interesting. How much oil do you use? and at what stage do you mix it in? Tessa
bronze
Real butter is nt meant to be kept in the fridge anyway so should normally be spreadable. I love the fact that you can use all the cream up.
Nicola H
Because I use an electric whisk to make my butter it is easy to add it at the end when the butter milk has come out, then i pat it into shape and squeeze out the last of the liquid...... Snowy
Just happened to find some reduced cream in the co-op today, so just had to give this another go! 3 x 284ml pots of extra thick double cream, reduced to 84p each. Produced 488g of butter. So 2 blocks of butter for £1.25 each (plus half a pint of butter milk which was just enough for 30 scones - made with home made butter of course!) Martin B
I made the butter from the magazine last night in an old coke bottle. It is the most delicious butter I have tasted, I need to work on the consistency but it is not that bad at all. I would prefer it if it was a bit firmer. Very pleased though! redhotchick
I made the butter on Sunday. It's delicious! I used the buttermilk in a cheese sauce with some pasta. Yum!
