bellekatz
Last night I went with a friend to see John Barrowman in concert at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, and it was fantastic, fantastic, FANTASTIC!! He was such a funny guy though the asides and comments were a little risque for the few younger members of the audience that I saw. We went from tears of laughter to real tears at the backgrounds to why he chose the songs he did. There was a wide range of songs, swing, jazz, show and 80's all immaculately performed and a visit from the Captain Jack coat and his dancing on ice costume to introduce songs. His band was fantastic, especially all the saxaphone and woodwind solos. He basically told his life story through songs that mean something to him. I came out singing, and wanted to sing all day - it has made me feel so happy ( is that really soppy ?) Highly recommended
chocchick
Sounds like it would be really good, I didn't know he did a show. I only really watch him on Torchwood (and on children's TV when I was little ). I didn't know the Bridgewater Hall did anything other than classical music. Guest
My friend went to see him and she thought it was fantastic too. Cameron Mackintosh was there as well. She explained (very unessacarily) who Cameron was - but still hasn't explained who this John Barrowman is???? I know I know - I just don't do all this "popular" stuff - never heard of him! Ain't Nobody Here
- but still hasn't explained who this John Barrowman is???? Here you go, Pengy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barrowman If he's Scottish I'm a Dutchman . (He sounds very American to me . ) Can't say I get the hype, I find him annoying . Guest
AAAh that explains it all. Not been in ANYTHING I've seen and the Dr Who thing explains why my mate Karen is into him - she is Dr Who crazy - met her hubby at a Dr Who convention years ago. I never knew Torchwood was a spin off of Dr Who though. Actually I don't entirely understand why I dont' like the "search for a star" shows. I LOVE Musicals and thought these would interest me but I guess the talent show aspect is just too much of a turn off for me to enjoy it. He was born and lived in Glasgow as a child, then the family moved to the Us which is why he has the american accent. Parents still have a scottish accent though - I guess adults dont loose their accents so easily - I have a friend who has lived in Australia for the last 21 years and still talks broad Lancashire. Ain't Nobody Here
I did notice that in the wikipedia stuff after I'd posted that! I'll forgive him then (but I still find him slightly annoying ).
Tina C
I know what you mean about him being annoying - he seems to be everywhere at the moment doesn't he - but he is lovely. We met him at the stage door before and after the show ) when he was in Aladdin at Birmingham and he was happy to give up loads of time to make sure everyone got everything signed, photos with him etc. even though his parents were waiting to go out fo a meal with him in between shows. I think he is nice guy. As I see it, he is making the most of his 'five minutes' - which in his case is going to last a long time because he is so open and friendly and genuinely enjoys what he does. And he is very talented.
