got through the first 24 hours!

Hello Masterchicken,

It's not even funny now!

There are a lot of people like me on here who ask for advice from a lot of lovely wise people on this forum :D

I really don't think it's very fair to keep asking irrelevant questions :talk2hand: so please stop now!

Best wishes,

TL x :)

Lucky you having 10 eglu cubes Master chicken!

Try shining a torch into the cube at night and the hens should follow the light. If that doesn't work, then you will have to put them in the cube yourself. It might stress them out a little but staying in the run all night with a fox wandering around, will stress them more!

Hi Sue,

Wow you sound so calm in your post! How is it going now?

I should keep a running list, I ordered food with the cube (my son chose the colour). Every time I read the forum I seem to discover something else I will need - mirror with lights (only joking  ) garlic powder (now I never knew that - doesn't mention it at all in my book). I am a bit unsure what to have on the floor of the run, we were thinking bark until I read that it could get spores etc on it.

I'm sure it will all sort itself out, I will just carry on reading and asking questions (hopefully not silly ones  ).

Ann

Master chicken in response to a question of mine about your housing this morning you said

i have a huge hen house not a iglue it hold 10 with a 20ft run

Now you are saying that you have 10 cubes. I wasn't aware that Omlet delivered on a Sunday.

There have been so many inconsistencies and conflicting pieces of information coming from you that I'm sure you will understand that people are getting a little fed up.

We are all happy to answer genuine questions and help out where we can, but can't afford to have our time wasted.

Hi Ann,

Me, calm? Those nagging doubts seemed to multiply as the big day got closer. :?

I think that our own mother hen, Egluntine, would certainly recommend aubiose for the floor of the run whether you have concrete, put down slabs or have the run on soil.

Mine is on soil, at least for now, as it seemed more natural and I wasn't sure about what final positioning would be. The ground doesn't get soggy and to protect it from rain, I have a makeshift cover of lino, a wood plank, a few terra cotta tile off-cuts, some bricks and a large John Lewis bag. It looks just as weird as it sounds!

Egluntine is so right about aubiose (and lots of other things as well)--it's lovely stuff! (Never thought I'd have a bale of anything!)

Thanks for everyone's concern about my DIL and her mother. They are getting good medical care, not always the case in the States.
