KimW
I was told by a farming friend of mine that if you put a whole garlic clove into the chickens water it will help them stay healthy. Will help with colds etc. Her farm vet told her to do it. I think it was a whole uncrushed one and you just leave it in there at all times. My two Polands have managed to get Creosote (not sure if I spelt that right) on their head and tail feathers. My friend said that if you rub margarine onto the feathers and wash off after, it should remove the marks! I'll let you know if it works. Her dog kept rolling in freshly laid tar and the margarine managed to get it off!

My girls always fished the garlic out and discarded it! My two Polands have managed to get Creosote (not sure if I spelt that right) on their head and tail feathers. I'd be inclined to wash the margarine off after it has removed the creosote, so that they don't ingest it whilst preening.
