fairy&cake
Has anyone ever watched Band of Brothers, Ross has been watching it and i have been [with a cushion over my face] a bit. Its a wonderful but very sad series about World War 2. Makes me so greatful for those poor young chaps who fought for us, and the chaps that bravely work in the Army everyday in this country. I am in awe of their bravery. Of course i'd rather there weren't any wars, but what these men go through is immense.
chelsea
hubby has it on DVD - I bought him a special edition set. He loves history and war documentaries and war films. He would watch something like band of brothers over and over again. He likes Saving Private Ryan aswell.

chickweed
Band of Brothers is a fantastic series. We also have the DVD special edition. Hearing the, now elderly, surviving members of Easy Company talk about each other at the end of each part is very moving. It makes you realise that all that bravery and suffering was for real. The theme music is good too.
Guest
I watched it when it was on telly - I bought the special boxed set DVD for my husbands birthday that year. He bought me a candle for mine. Anyone wonder why he's the ex?

Guest
I'm not a great lover of war movies, but I have to agree that Black Hawk Down is about as good as they come!! It's a really good take on modern warfare, probably similar to what is experienced in Iraq. It's not over the top, it just shows you what really could happen! I love all the old war comedies though like Dads Army and Allo Allo!
