Has anyone got one of these girlies... I'v just aquired her on friday. She's got a funny comb.... more like wiggles instead of a comb. is that normal?

They usually have a very small, if any comb at all. And a top knot of feathers.

My araucana crosses have a little pea comb. She sounds gorgeous - I've seen lavender araucanas but not a blue. Pictures please!

I have two Lavender Araucana's, they have a pea comb, although according to my book the comb of the Arucana is irregular in shape, if that helps at all!

 

I've never seen a blue one either, looking forward to seeing this!

The guy im getting the eggs from has been experimenting with feather colouring for a few years and has some wonderful couloured arucannas already .

When i get the eggs and they hatch i'll post picture when there about 12 weeks old , can't wait , i've been waiting 4 months , 2 more weeks and

I saw some partridge araucana chicks at the breeders today. They were gorgeous but there is now way I could get chicks now , DH would go absolutely mental. Maybe next year and we might hatch from eggs

 

Are blue araucanas the same as lavender araucanas? I have a feeling that they are the same thing.

I must admit to thinking the same thing so I went and looked it up so I understood what I was on about - no pics in my book, but it did say that the blue ones were rarer than the lavender! Second hand info so am prepared to be told I'm wrong by someone more experianced than I

Blue and Lavender are two recognised colours of poultry plumage. The lavender is a pale grey, the blue is much deeper.

Not sure how different they really are, ours is quite a light grey but the breeder was adamant she was a blue.

Claret, they are gorgeous... cute chicks too!!

 

I've added photo's in a new topic... not sure why, I just did! having a mad moment. Our blue has no other colour on her, but is much lighter than your blue bantam.

This is Lady one of mine, she looks very different to the Lavender one posted above !

 

 

Sorry it's not a great photo, I need to get out in the garden and take some good ones, I just have not had the time on a good ( ) day yet!!!
