4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I nearly ran into the back of a car on a 60mph road today as the cars suddenly piled together narrowly avoiding an accident.

The reason?

A mother duck was leading her gorgeous tiny ducklings across the road and all the traffic had to stop

they simply didn't do their duck highway code at school did they

I had a similar experience last summer in Milton Keynes. Dual carriageway, man frantically waving his arms in front of me. I stopped and from behind the bus shelter came two duck families, mums, dads and about 8 wee ones!

 

It was the sweetest sight, made me smile all the way home!

I hope the large number of ducklings last as maybe Mum was new to this they were all following in one long line.

I used to act as lollipop lady to a mummy duck and her brood when I worked in Oxford; she'd lead them past my office window and I'd jump out to stop the traffic so that they could get to the river.

Ahhh, so cute. During my PhD someone put dome planks down into the ornamental fountain as there were ducks living in the tiny garden in the centre of our department and it was a big jump down for them.

I also had a similar experience this week when I was driving home from work. I had to stop because a mommy duck was leading her ten ducklings across the lane that runs through our local country park.

 

It was the cutest thing I had seen for a long time.
