Christian
They pick out the bits first Debbie. I just top it up with more mash and give it a mix.

Egluntyne
I see. I just top it up, and add the limestone flour and Bokashi Bran at the same time. Ordinary layers mash will have some shell hardening ingredient in it already, but you can add the flour too. It does not contain the Bokashi Bran already however. Nicola H
Like Christian says debbie they will pick out the big bits first but they do still eat the powder, mine are just the same..........The thing to do is just top up the feeder and mix it round a bit. I don't use Bokashi bran or Limestone and my chooks are fine i sometimes add a bit of poultry spice when they are moulting...........Your chickens will be fine with just mash it should contain all the nutrients and vitamins they need, you could just treat them in the afternoon to a bit of mixed corn. AnnieP
Glad they are laying again Debbie. As a rule, you shouldn't feed treats until late afternoon, when you know they have eaten their daily ration of pellets/mash.

jomaxsmith
Hi Debbie, Someone asked pretty recently about what people added to their mash and got lots of replies so could be worth you having a look at that for ideas. I tend to top up the mash daily and then once a week chuck what's left away, wash the feeder and then start afresh. Jo
