Roast the Black Rock has now been in the nesting box for the last 50mins - hoping to get our first egg She went in and out about 5 times before that

We have one little 34g cream egg with a few speckles. Will take piccie later whilst DH has hysterics

 

Wow wasn't expecting this for another week at least. What a good chook

what a clever girl she is, I am not at all impatient.. *taps foot* I know mine will lay when they are mature enough..

 

cream with speckles?? ooh I wonder if thats what my black rock will lay!..

Our black rock lays light brown eggs with speckles too...we wondered if she was just following the fashion set for speckled eggs set by Becky the Speckledy hen!

 

Strangely though, her yolks are much much paler than the Speckledy's...will be interested to know what colour yours is...when you have the ceremonial eating of the egg that is!

Isn't it funny - I don't think I will have the heart to cook it for days. I just keep looking at it on the skelter and smiling. Probably be different if she lays another tomorrow - then I think I will feel justified in eating it.

 

Having the neighbours and kids around for a BBQ tonight - might have to open the bottle on bubbly in the fridge that has been sitting their in celebration

I know what you mean! OH refused to cook any until we had a whole egg-box full!

 

Had a baking session today and also fried eggs for lunch...none left now, so nipping out to the chooks every half hour to see if any deliveries yet today Looks like it might be a no-egg day after several 2-egg days...that must be Murphy's law right?
