Hen Huggers R Us
Hi, quick question, my Hubbie is a fisherman and brings home any spare maggots for the girls which they love!! I Dont give them any coloured ones of course but just checking to see if the white ones are ok to give them, Not too many or they will get the squits..... Also are soft shelled eggs still safe to use in baking etc? Thanks
Egluntyne
Maggots are full of protein and are good for them....as long as they are undyed, as you rightly say. Can't say as I'd fancy using a soft egg myself, but others might.
Couperman
We often give ours maggots and they are a firm favourite. I think soft shelled eggs absorb bacteria more readily if I remember the answer correctly. I asked a similar question about this time last year. I wouldn't use them if I were you. Kev. Westie
Yes you can eat soft shell eggs. Obviously if they've got any punctures no, and I should think its best not to leave them around. Unless I'm making scrambled eggs or something I tend to let the dog have them. When I first had soft shelled I asked omlet if ok and they said yes.
