SAB
Hi - just wondering what you store your chicken feed and bedding in to avoid rodents, dampness, etc? I am keen to get something practical and not too expensive.
Tara.F
metal dustbin we found that they cost twelve quid in wilkos or 24 quid in B&Q. quite a difference eh?
Cooks
funny becasue I just bought two feed bins today, plastic ones, but their were on special offer at the feed store and they can stand in my kitchen in the corner, I dont mind one for corn, one for pellets. As for bedding it's just stored in the garage and I hope for the best at the moment until I find a metal dustbin... off to wilkos next time I get chance.. SAB
Thanks for this Tara. I had thought of metal dustbin but was unsure where to get one other than B+Q. There is quite a difference in prices - I must check if there is a Wilcos near me.
Stevie
I store their feed in a galvanised dustbin just outside my backdoor and also keep their mixed corn in there too.I also hook a bungee strap across the lid to the two handles eitherside so the wind cant blow it off and possibly rats lift it off. Their bedding is shredded paper (old bank statements mostly) and i keep this in a large carrier bag all squished down in cupboard.

Cooks
the plastic feed bins I got are great if you are able to keep them inside somewhere, they have their own scoop with sits saftely in the lid I am so easily pleased. Having them inside makes perfect sense as it saves me rambling off to the garage. It was hubbys idea, it's probably a ploy to keep me OUT of the garage I got them at alans ark if you are interested and they were on special offer if you bought seed. £3.99 each. poachedegg
Hemcore is in the garage. The Food and Corn bags are in the garage too, however I have a few 2.5 litre round plastic storage containers in the Utility Room that we use on a day to day basis and just top up from garage when required.
