StephanieSB
Has anyone tried Easibed bedding? This is the blurb for it: Brief description: dustfree finely shredded wood fibre bedding Easibed are the leading brand of premium quality dust free horse bedding. One of the greenest bedding products giving a warm, comfortable, free-draining and cleaner environment for horses and people. Quick and easy to use and beacuse it doesn't blow about, the yard will stay tidier too. It is small chipped wood pieces that the birds love to scratch around to keep turning it over, it does not cake on top like other bedding and is extra absorbant so the amonia smell is kept at bay and of course no dust for birds to suffer. It is the only bedding sold by P&T Poultry; the only they recommend; and they rave about it. I know about hemcore and others. But this is first I've heard of this. I take it, bedding is used for the floor of the Omlet Cube and for the nesting box as well???
Egluntyne
I have a feeling in my water that Couperman and Couperwife use this. It sounds ideal if you can't get hold of Aubiose.
lisa33
I use easibed in the nest and Aubiose in the run. One bale of easibed lasted me a year.
Couperman
I have a feeling in my water that Couperman and Couperwife use this. It sounds ideal if you can't get hold of Aubiose. We used to use it before we discovered a hemcore supplier. It is good stuff, basically wood shavings with the dust extracted. Maybe not quite as good as hemcore or Aeioubuoise but it does the job and is a lot cheaper too. Now we have a much larger run I might revert back to it. Easibed+ is treated with anti fly stuff presumably citronella so is worth the extra. Kev.
StephanieSB
Oh thanks you all -- I have a supplier near me that has both Easicore and Hemcore. So I can stock up on either one before the chickens arrive. For those who use it -- why do you find Hemcore better? or Aubiose? And why is one or other better for nests rather than floors? Chuckov
I use Easibed in the nesting box and poo tray. I don't think it clumps up as easily as Aubiose/ Hemcore but we are nonetheless very happy with it - we are less than 1/3 down our bale and it only cost £5 ish! We use it as a 'top up' to our wood chips in the run in between raking the whole lot out, but I think the easibed is too small to use on its own in the run, it'd get blown everywhere! superjules
I've used easibed, it's similar to aubiose but not quite as light in texture. It's ideal for either in the run or in the nest.
StephanieSB
Where do you purchase your bedding online? I don't see any on the Omlet site & my local tack shop is actually not as 'local' as I thought. I'm a relatively poor driver (hailing originally from the USA and the 'other' side of the road), so I try to get as much delivered safely to my door as is possible. SAB
Try the Greenmule website (sometimes you have to look under Equestrian to get the bedding).
StephanieSB
Try the Greenmule website (sometimes you have to look under Equestrian to get the bedding). Thank you, thank you... I have the site up now and am ready to order, but I just want to double check: the "Easibed Plus" w/ the anti-fly stuff in it is okay for chickens? I'm assuming it's citronella, but it doesn't say exactly what it is.
AJuff
I use easibed in the run on top of paving slabs and it's great. I haven't found it blowing away yet! It's great in the nest box too as it keeps the eggs very clean. Easibed is the only stuff available near to me so I can't compare it with anything else.
