Surrey Agricultual Show

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

is anyone going to to this show on BH Monday 26 May 9am-6pm?

Ive just ordered 2 tickets online and saved £6 on door prices. 8)

I'm sure you know that this is the biggest show of its kind in the U.K.

It's also the 1st time in forty years that they are going to show pigs.

The web site is a bit naff, but it looks like it's going to be a fantastic day.

We will take our dogs, and may well end up with a couple of new chooks to bring home with us. :D:D

Regards to all

Dodge

Ooooh.... Talking about shows...

Anyone going to the South of England agricultural show at Ardingly on Friday 6th June?

Its just down the road from us and i am taking 13 Year 7 and 8 students from work along, with long suffering DH (he's only coming to stop me buying livestock! )

Hi Dodge, do you know if the dogs can accompany you everywhere in the show? Only asking as I recently watched some RSPCA/Pet Rescue/animal cop (can't remember which) type show which included a section on an agricultural show. Someone had left their dog in the car while they nipped back to buy something from an area where the dog wasn't allowed and it almost died because it was a very hot day.

I'd love to go to this and take the Roxy dog but she doesn't hold with being left in cars, so would rather leave her behind if she's not allowed in some areas. (Either that or disguise her as a rather ugly hairy baby... :D )

Thanks Helen, will check. I'd no more leave the dog in the car than I would a baby. A lot of places are becoming rather dog-phobic in Uk. The latest was the large open-air Sunday market near us which has banned dogs for 'hygiene reasons'. They'd been allowed in for the last 20 odd years with no problems and the stall holders even used to bring their own.

I suppose a few irresponsible owners may have spoiled it for the rest but I'd guess it's more likely to do with the 'Ealth & Safety brigade that seem so prevalent nowadays.

No problems with taking dogs at this show. :)

Dogs on leads are welcome at the Show and there is a small Companion Dog Show which takes place in the Countryside area at 2:00 pm, plus musical mats for dogs with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home during the morning.

Just got back from the Surrey Show and have now dried out nicely

We eventually found the poultry area and had a a quick look around the show birds. Next we visited the Domestic Fowl Trust stall and bought a lovely cast iron egg holder in the shape of a chicken and a soft toy cockeral which the dog thinks is hers

They did have some Bluebells for sale and I was tempted but they were all so wet and soggy that it was impossible to really see them at their best, so we decided to wait. They also had some white girlies, but sorry, I have no idea what breed these were, still being a newbie :)
