LisaP
At last, some pictures of our 2 new girls - Willow (Silver Nova) and Lupin (Amber Nova), plus a pic of Pansy and Peony our Gingernut Rangers. We've had the 2 new ones for nearly 3 weeks now and last night they all went into the eglu together and of their own accord. As this was our first go at introducing new girls we bought a wooden house/run in addition to our eglu and just as well we did. Pansy was not impressed with the newbies and made her feelings very clear, but fingers crossed things have now settled down, although Lupin does get pecked now and again, but no feather pulling. All 4 of them were dustbathing side by side today but of course I didn't have a camera! LisaP
Thank you dogs and chickens. I see that among your 'flock' you've got a Lavender Araucana and a Cream Legbar and we're getting one of each in September Unfortunately that will have to be our limit Lisa P

dogs and chickens
Dogs and chickens Just looking at your signature, do you really have all them chickens in one cube? I brought a wooden house for the additional girls that would not 'fit' in the cube - they will not use it ! I often wonder if I should move some once they are in bed at night, but they seem happy so I leave them to it. TBH if I look in there when they are roosting they all seem to sleep squashed on top of each other with a huge area with no chooks in it So weird. Maybe when money allows I should get another cube, but I may still have the same prob . It is rather annoying, still they have the choice. Mind you if I were a chicken and had a choice between a wooden house and a purple cube, I know which I would go for!!!! I am on the lookout for a second hand eglu, as that would be a cheaper option than another cube. I had not planned I would have so many girls but the brown leghorns were going to be put in the pot because they laid the wrong colour eggs I could not let that happen!!!! By which point I had already ordered the others and I hate going back on my word. Hense the need for the wooden house which they will not even lay in !!!!! Any ideas anyone? An eglu would be great!
