Gallina
Now that we are all going hen-mad, don't you think the size-limit on signatures could be increased? I cannot get one more character into mine, and it doesn't look all that big to me. I have tried editing it down, but I still can't make room for my second cube. Do the mini-pictures take up an awful lot of space? (Everyone at this point sighs and says, "Is there any topic in which this woman is not boasting about her second cube?") Egluntyne
Good idea! Why not remove all the "and"s.....that would free up a bit of space. If you had normal text instead of bold it would help too as the [*b] and [*/b] take up a lot of room. Edited May 23, 2008 by Guest
kaylis1980
i cant talk for omlet but i was a community leader on another board and to answer your question... no it doesnt look that big, but you have quite a bit of text there- maybe try abbreviating so that you can fit the code for the cube in? most forums dont like increasing the size for signatures as they make pages slower to load etc
Snowy
Gallina I think you have the original cube icon before it was shortened. Try the newer icon, is it or something? (cube purple*) but without the star?
Mrs Frugal
I'm reluctant to increase the length of the signatures as some of them are longer than the posts people make !! There are plenty of ways to cut down your signature. You can lose a lot of characters by changing your purple cube smiley to the one in the Omlet emoticon library (*cube purple) rather than the long Photobucket link provided by Annie before James gave us a smiley for the emoticon library. Removing the brackets as Egluntine suggested will also free up 7 characters for you for each time you've used bold font. Removing the colons between dates and breeds would also give you more characters. If people really, really want longer signatures, I'll look into it though. Gallina
Thanks very much for the hint. That was the main problem. I could remove the hens which have died, but I rather like to keep a record of them all here. Perhaps when I get my next hens I will start off an Excel table and keep my signature briefer. I have already removed my hens' names because they all tend to have nicknames like Baby and there certainly isn't room for real names as well as nicknames. Mrs Frugal
I like to keep the hens I've lost in my signature too and would feel sad to have to lose them from it. If more people ask for the signatures to be increased in size, I'll see what I can do but in the meantime, any savings you can make yourself would mean more room to add new hens etc . Ziggy
Gallina, maybe you could reduce the format of your dates? For instance, instead of having 13 July 2005, have 13/7/05? It doesn't make a huge difference, but every little reduction helps... I too constantly have to re-work my signature as I like to have the whole family in there, and we have lots of pets... I don't mind keeping it short, but I know what you mean about wanting to fit a lot in!!
Gallina
I think I am all right for now (I just didn't realize pointing to a long URL would use up so much valuable space), but when I succumb again I will trim the dates down. I am afraid that I use my signature as an aide-memoire, as I am beginning to forget exactly when I got my hens (I feel I have had them for ever). Mrs Frugal
I'm JUST the same, Gallina!! I have to look at my signature to help me remember when I got my Eglu now as it seems so long ago!
Snowy
I've given up with dates - I really can't squeeze any more into mine without drastic trimming! (That excelspreadsheet really does come in very handy!)
Aunty e
I have the same problem. I hated having to take all of my departed chooks out of my signature, but there's just too many of them now and I'm always having to revise my signature to fit everyone in neatly. The cats don't even get a look in.
Egluntyne
Aunty e I thought the collective noun for kittens was "kindle". Are your babies into quantum physics?
Lesley
I had to remove chickens names from my sig. a long time ago now......
Mrs Frugal
Lesley if we made enough signature room for all the names in your menagerie, your posts would take up a whole page each .
