Do your girls do this? (and by stampy chicken I mean the whole crouching stampy leg thing). We use it as a means to catch errant girlies, but it only tends to work once a day and I was wondering why...

They crouch (aka 'Lapdancing')when they are in lay - it's because they think that you're their cockerel. Some do it more than others (the little hussies), some never do it at all. Mine usually do it once, then remember their manners and stop.

Do they think we are cockrells because they see us as the boss? Does that mean they do it in response to people they know and so wouldn't do it for instance for somebody visiting?

One of my ex-battery girls does it if I go within a foot of her! Shes the most timid with people and the boldest with the other chooks.
