andrewandcarly
today we rescued 4 ex battery hens via the bhwt. we have brenda, beatrice, beryl and barbara. they have stayed in the eglu for a while before beatrice ventured out followed by beryl. beryl has had a drink and something to eat, beatrice is intrigued with the others on the other side of the fence. sorry i seemed to have had trouble with photobucket resizing one of the pictures

chucknette
I love the photo of them peaking out of the eglu. Its like shes saying no you go first! They look so sweet and not in too bad a condition. Did you choose them or were you given them?
hils78
They are in really good condition -congratulations x I wondered if you get to choose - I would ask for the ones with bits missing or one eye!
andrewandcarly
we didnt get to choose, we were just given our 4. one of them is quite bald whilst the other 3 are reasonably ok. 2 are out in the run at the moment, im not sure how long to leave the other 2 in the eglu or whether i need to put them in the run so they can eat and drink? Jules.
Lovely & clever girls I like your set up, but just wondered about it. I see that you have chicken wire around your run, & I have read on here that foxes can bite through chicken wire, but not weld mesh wire. . Guest
I've been sat out in the garden most of the afternoon with mine, Maud sitting on my knee, dozing off. They're a joy and you'll love them and they're very lucky girls!!!

andrewandcarly
world war 3 broke out earlier just before i left for work. martha was jumping at beatrice through the fence and beatrice managed to get hold of her and martha was bleeding from her comb. ive cleaned them both up and beatrice has started on beryl. after telling them off peace now reigns!!! we shall see what tomorrow brings........... Abbey Road Girl
Adorable is the word for them. Let's hope that peace has indeed broken out.
andrewandcarly
well they all had a comfortable night........eventually! i went out to them this morning to find i was missing beatrice. i eventually found her in the other eglu on the nest with martha who she had been fighting with last night! i dont know how she found her way from the enclosure to be with the others. barbara, brenda and beryl dont need much of an excuse to go back into the eglu, they spend most of their time inside it
