hello all you bluebelle owners. what colour are their eggs? I am looking for a dark egg layer and think the bluebelles look gorgeous. what does the 'plum blush' actually look like?

um, well - kind of beige!!! I cant see any plum blush on my bluebell's eggs, but she's a very good layer.

Pale cream/brown - if you are looking for a dark egg layer a speckledy would do that - but personally I wouldn't swop my bella for the world.

thanks for your replies. the speckeldys i've got are laying massive almost white eggs!!! thought that was normal but obviously not!

Plum blush is a kind of deeper brown with a coating of white over it which gives it a pinky/plummy colour. You'll know it when you see it! This is one that my gingernut, Pom, laid as a one off - she's working her way through the colour spectrum at present

 

It's first on the left in the ceramic egg tray.

My Bluebelle lays eggs which I would describe as bog standard. I've never seen any plum blush. But I wouldn't send her back under the Trade Descriptions Act.

My bluebelle lays normal beige colour eggs of average size. Shes my only chicken with feathers left at the moment too.

Gertrude laid her first egg on Monday, it's quite a bit lighter than the gingernuts ones, & "matt" compared to the others.

My bluebelle's very first egg was plum blush, but ever since she has layed pale cream ones. My speckeldy lays bog standard brown. I don't think you can be too specific with hybrids!
