Tiggy
as far as I know chickens arent water proof so stay away from ponds etc
TAJ
When it was very hot a few weeks ago I left a cat litter tray of water out in case they wanted to cool off - I even tried to encourage them by throwing some mixed corn in - they just lent over and ate the corn/drank the water, but not keen to actually go in. Big Chicken
We have put one of our girls (Pootle) in a bath but that was a cold bath when she was broody. She didn't mind standing in it but when the water went on her back she struggled. She much preferred the towel dry she got afterwards. I think there is someone who has mini salon for their girls and dries then with a cool hairdryer on the forum. Big Chicken
SAB
I have a cat litter tray in the run which I fill with sand and soil for them to dustbath - they don't - they eat it instead! They then wait until a puddle forms if it rains and then they get in and get filthy!
Snowy
Most of them don't seem to mind having their undercarriage washed and blow dried, but their feathers are not waterproof like a duck's so they would get waterlogged and can easily drown if they get into deeper water. wombatally
Mine love the rain and can't wait to get out there on wet days - not tried giving them a bath though. I find a tub trug from agricultural stores and garden centres is fab as a sand pit for them - they queue up to get in there.
