4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Been offered the chance to reserve some blue egg laying hybrids called 'Fenton Blues'. It's not a breed I've heard of before.

 

Has anyone had any experience with this breed? Any advice?

I have heard of them, there is a farm up the road from me called Fenton Poultry.

 

They look quite nice hens and bred from the cream legbar, but that is as much as I know im afraid.

Lavendar Auracanas are a pure breed - This hen is a hybrid from a Cream lagbar by the sounds of it,although they do have a LA look.

That's what I thought too Cinnamon. I'd assume that I'd get more eggs from the hybrid - is this a fair assumption?

No...they are hybrids, bred from the cream legbar, and look like a bluer version of same., with a daft hairdo.

My daughters were cuddling them on saturday, they are so gorgeous. if it wasn't for the fact that I am so new to this I would have been tempted, how long will you have to wait for them they were tiny?

I prefer to take them at POL if I can, so it will be a few more weeks yet.

So impressed you can get a hybrid that looks just like Lavender Araucana's! Lucky you eggs all year and same looking hen One day I may get one of those.

 

My list for new hens is getting rather long. Shame hubby has said NO! Hubby spoil's all my fun!

I've just put my order in for two Fenton Blues!

 

As we're on holiday between 13th and 27th Aug I wanted to pick them up afterwards so we're getting them on 6th September. Jody was happy to keep them in reserve for me, the only thing is that the price goes up £1 a week til they are 18 weeks old. At the moment they are selling for £5 so by the time we get them they'll be £13 each. But I don't mind that cos I'd rather they were old enough to be introduced to my other girls.

Yes......but as Scooby says. they cost more.

Reasonable...but I have to confess that I wanted them for the blue eggs.

I hope Jody still has some left in March when we get our shiny new cube!! A long long way off as we need to get it after our Feb hols but it doesn't stop me planning!!

 

Jody mentioned the Fenton Blues when I got our latest 3 from her. At least if yours don't lay lovely blue eggs I'll know wbout it by then
