beach chick
I'm lucky - when I go out at about 7.30am, they are all sitting quietly in their runs, just waiting for me to open the door. if only I could get oldest daughter to be like that!! Mutrix Farmers
Katie sometimes announces she has laid an egg, but that's usually around 8am. We have a black groundsheet at the eglu end of the run so I think the inside of the eglu is quite dark. They make more noise when free ranging especially if they spot a cat!! stoice
Am I the only one who's girls lay in the afternoon - about 3 or 4? They're quiet in the mornings though, right up until they hear her the back door handle squeek
NClaire
Mine are variable - this last week there have been maybe 2 or 3 days when they have piped up at 5am which is NOT good as far as our neighbours go! Generally they are quiet till about 7 though which I think is more acceptable. In the winter it's no problem at all.
MedusA
Mine only really make a racket when they lay an egg, and then it's only really two of them. They all make some chickeny noises during the day, but that's to be expected.
cluckbok
Our Pecky woke us up on Sunday morning at 5am!!!! We leave the eglu door open in the summer. We have been leaving door open for about 6 weeks now with no problems it's the first time she's done it and hopefully the last!!. OH went out there in his P.J.'S to get her to shut up!!! he threw corn in there as a distraction, although actually that probably wasn't a very good idea as we could get in bad habits!! It was VERY loud clucking! My next door neighbours said they didn't hear her but I bet the neighbours who leave on the back did!! She did go quiet a short while after he went out there thank goodness!!
