I think if I put them in the cube at least they will know it is there but if I put them in the run they won't have to tackle the ladder first, what do omlet do when they deluiver the chooks? It will also give them a chance to settle a bit after the upheaval of the journey. They will be a bit timid about coming in and out and will need some help using the ladder at first. We had to help them in the first night, 2nd and 3rd night we put a torch in the cube and they went in at dusk, and 4th night the clever girls went in all by themselves. Our omlett man didnt say to put them in the cube. To be honest we didnt even think about it. I guess its just down to personal preference. Good luck. NClaire Posted July 12, 2008 Share Posted July 12, 2008 Not quite the same, as don't have a cube, but I put new hens in the house for half an hour or so (with food and water available), and then let them into the run, so they find their own way out - sometimes with a bit of encouragement from me - the latest 2 I had to give a bit of a shove to, to get them into the run.
