clare*
I have listed an item due to end in a couple of hours. I set a reserve of £50 which is the minimum you can. I want to take it off as the highest bid stands at £40 which I would actually be happy with. The help section says you can remove a reserve at any time. It wont let me. You have to put a new reserve price in £1 more than the highest bid. But because I would be entering £41 its keeps saying not allowed as minimum reserve is £50. Am I doing something wrong
Hellcat
Clare*, sounds like you are trying to bid on the item! Go to My eBay and log in if required. Click the “Selling” link in the left-hand navigation. Your list of items will appear.. Find the item you want to edit Select the pull-down menu under the Action column and click the "Revise" link. The Review and Submit Listing page will appear. Click the "Edit..." link for the part of the listing you want to change.* Make your changes on the Revise Your Listing page. Click the Save Changes button *Note: If you do not see an "Edit..." link, the ability to revise your item has been limited. Could be that as you only have a limited time left, the revise option has been stopped. I'm no expert, mind! If it doesnt reach the reserve, you can contact the person who was offering the highest price and offer them a 'second chance', which some people are happy to do. I'm sure someone who knows more than me will be along in a minute!
clare*
It lets me go through the motion of reducing it but wants a new value set in the box. As the minimum reserve is £50 it wont accept anything below this. It clearly says in the Help section a reserve can be removed at any time. I just can't see how to do it I guess if the £50 is not reached I will contact the highest bidder as you say to see if they want to go through with it at their price. Cinnamon
Hi Clare, All you can do at this late stage is wait & see what it goes for,& if it fails to reach your reserve then send out a second chance offer to the highest bidder. I don't think you can edit the item as it has bids & there is less than 12 hours until it ends, but I am not 10% on this in these circs. If the worse come to the worse then just relist it with a lower reserve, emailing your highest bidders via My Messages telling them that the reserve has been reduced & inviting them to bid again.Add a link,as that may help. Hope it works!
Richard and Jo
offer them second chance - I get a few of these when you are close to the reserve and people really want to sell things.
Richard and Jo
Unless you had frantic last minute bidding and are now wealthier then you thought you were going to be
AnnieP
Yes! Do tell us how it went? Did you go through the reseve anyway? I sold a doll yesterday that OH was going to take to the tip for £25! Result!
Paola
offer them second chance - I get a few of these when you are close to the reserve and people really want to sell things. Fingers crossed you get some mad bidding at the last few seconds, which happens quite a bit. If not then you will be able to do what Richard and Jo suggested above. Good luck
myles
Well... Cinnamon is right... you cant edit things such as Reserve and Delivery with less than 12 hours to go... You can offer them a second chance as everybody says.. We Generally go for no reserve and live with waht you get, as eBay generally gives you a good price. Cinnamon
We Generally go for no reserve and live with waht you get, as eBay generally gives you a good price. Myles So do we Myles. We also start everything at 99p,& see where it ends. We have a pick-up truck running on there now which started at 99p & still has a week to run. Its up to £100 now & we want around £150 for it ideally I think a reserve puts bidders off - it certainly puts me off bidding We have never had a situation where something that is worth a fair bit has sold for 99p,& we have sold lots & lots of stuff on ebay
clare*
Have offered second chance offer to the highest bidder so I will wait and see. Thanks for the advice everyone
Chicken on a mission
Just to let you know for future reference, you would not have been able to reduce the reserve to £40 anyway because the lowest reserve you can set is £50. If you want to make sure your item only sells at the price you want to and that is under the £50 then you need to start the bidding from that price. It is more expensive to list this way which is way eBay change the minimum reserve level in the first place Any eBay problems I'd be happy to help. Before I found the Omlet forum I spent most of my time on the eBay ones (for 2 years) helping anyone that needed it.
