liquid or pellet form of worming which is best?

Recommended Posts

I can't remember which 100% natural sort that is recommended, but which sort do people/hens prefer?!

Liquid or pellet? :?

I can imagine making up some water (which they all drink), but 1 of the 5 is bound to 'lag behind' and not get their share.

The pellets are good, though my crested is fussy and wont come straigt away to any treat that's put in treat bowl, again how you do make sure that they each have their dose?

Do you have to pick each one up in turn and syringe or get them to get pellets from you?

Or do you not have to be so careful and just let them eat/drink what they want?

Any help would be good.

Mine won't touch the liquid wormer. They hate it and didn't drink anything even when it was the only liquid on offer. I worm with flubenvet every three to four months. This gets mixed with their layers mash which I make into a porridge each morning.

I then give them verm-x pellets every month for the first three days of each month but my girls free range every day from morning to night so they need a lot of worming. I mix these in with the porridge and find that it works ok.

 Hmm, thanks Janty, I wouldn't want to spend money on something that they wouldn't touch, maybe pellets would be better, maybe if I mash it up with some of their normal pellets and warm water and put it in their treat bowl they'll scoff it up quick? Just hope Carmen wont be picky.

What time of day, late afternoonm when they normally get their mixed corn (could mix some of that in too, though they mught pick those bits out  )

Or first thing when they are hungry?

I am a bit worried about this too. I hand fed the girls with Verm-X, but greedy Piggy Sioux grabs most of it, while Apache throws her head around and swipes pellets out of my hand, Cheyenne stays at the back and it is difficult to make sure she has had a good amount. Where can I get Flubenvet from? I asked in Scats, but they said they are not allowed to sell it now and so only stock Verm-X. Same with other local suppliers.

Sioux and Apache were treated with Flubenvet before we brought them home and Cheyenne, being younger was due to have another dose this month, so Verm-x was better than nothing at all.

Well done Egg Lou, Thank you!

Not sure, when I'm going your way pm - I shall be off to Whitchurch on Friday am (actually I've remembered number one son wants to be taken to/picked up from Basingstoke that evening, so not sure what time yet, but I could tie it in if it's ok with you).
