We're hoping to pick our new puppy up mid-August but we have to go all the way up to Yorkshire to do so!!! Does anyone know of any decent (but not too pricey) campsites up in North Yorks so we can spend a week up there first?

Oooh, we found a couple there that were fabulous - Humble Bee Farm, slightly cramped spaces but a lovely place, and High Yedmandale Farm, backs onto the forest, acres of space to spread out - overcrowding definitely not an issue!

Thank you, Snowy. I've had a quick peep at the second one and it looks lovely. We just had a horrrrrredous weekend camping where we came back after one night as the neighbours were so noisy and horrible. Still going at 12.45. So I liked the fact that High Yelm. says no late night noise issues!

I've just had another look at where we're picking the puppy up from and it's quite a way from the Scarborough area. We were hoping to be fairly nearby so that we can visit during the week before.

 

Does anyone know of anything in the Richmond area?

There is a campsite just outside Robin Hoods Bay - footpath to beach, small play area for children. We stayed there at half-term and went to Scarborough a couple of times, as well as Whitby.

 

Not got details handy but will dig out tomorrow if you cant find it. You will need to book as its quite popular.

We keep our caravan at Otterington Park which is at South Otterington betweeen Northallerton and Thirsk, we find it is clean,well maintained and quiet and it is an excellent base for touring N yorkshire. I think it is about 15-20 miles from Richmond.

that's on a Tuna ad at the moment isn't it? Some woman jumps onto a cart and rolls down the hill into the sea? I walked down to Robin Hood's Bay and then couldn't get back up again Well, obviously I did, eventually!

 

I think we went there when we stayed in Whitby and we visited Goathland too, where they film Heartbeat, anyway, I digress!

Have not seen the ad Poet - through the village it is very steep but the path from the campsite is easier going.

 

We went to Goathland too but have never seen Heartbeat - there is a nice waterfall walk there - and a tree with names and initials carved all over it - some go back to the 1930s.

If you stay near Thirsk you can go and visit Skeldale House James and Siegfrieds surgery it's preserved now as the James Herriot museum. One of the best programmes of all time and I'm still watching repeats of repeats on Sky, can't get enough of it!!!

If you dont mind a quiet one you could try the one in Reeth, that is quiet nice.

My sister lives in Richmond so I am quiet familiar with the area.
