Can anyone recommend a good, but simple recipe for rabbit please?

 

It's been suggested I baste it in honey, then roll in herby breadcrumbs, but does anyone have any other suggestions?

We cook ours in English Cider. Coat the portions in flour and fry until golden. Remove from the pan. Fry an onion and when starting to colour add a sliced apple. Add stock/cider and carrots and the rabbit and cook as for stew.

Probably a wise move Rabbit does have a very distinctive taste, I am used to it as my mother used to cook rabbit when I was a child, until that horrible disease wiped them out, mixamatosis? something like that.

Having been married to a butcher for years and being around things as they get gutted etc I find the meat tastes the way the guts smell and the flavour makes me gag

Last year my son (17 at the time) marinaded rabbit kebabs along with some normal ones and then gave some to my daughter (12). She loved them . . . until we told her what it was. She now questions us closely about each and every kebab before she eats it

Ex FIL was (and still is) a hunter. I didn't mind the pigeon kebab, but when they served stew< I asked if there was rabbit in it. They said no, until I ate it - then admiTed it had rabbit in it. I was not happy at all! I bet they wouldn't have been happy eating lurcher or retriever!
