Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

My chooks have a huge dry-dust area under a big conifer... they have always been hole-diggers..

 

but never before anything quite this big!!!!!! it truly is huge! (Miss Marple settles at the bottom - looking rather pleased with herself....)

I think mine have started the other end of that tunnel perhaps they will meet in the middle, a bit like the chunnel!!
