Things to do in Lincolnshire

Recommended Posts

Ooh, not too far from where I come from!

Well, Louth is a nice market town to visit as is Horncastle (especially if you like junk/antique shops).

I believe there is a race course at Market Rasen although not into the gee gees myself.

If you head towards Wragby, just after Wragby in the direction of Bardney there is a lime forest (forget the name off the top of my head) which can be a nice walk.

Between Bardney and Lincoln there is a new cycle track that goes along the old railway line.

Lincoln is good to look around. Up Steep Hill (good exercise) for the cathedral, castle, tea shops, Lincolnshire Life Museum, the Lawn, windmill.....

Head north of Market Rasen for the Wolds....

I also went on a raptor flying day, somewhere in the vicinity of Wragby which was great fun. You can go there just to look at birds and watch flying displays too. Quite a small place, I can dig out the name if you wish.

I'll tell mom & dad (as long as there aren't too many antiques shops there  They tend to get carried away

I did an AA Route Planner and it says we are 3 hours away from Long Sutton

I'm sure well find a zoo/farm closer.

Are there any chickeny places nearby, as we are down to just PP PP at the moment.

I was shocked last week when dad said "how hard will it actually be to integrate them when we get the new chickens" :D . He was dead against getting them at the start! I guess we've converted him.

Hi there

We live in Lincoln, and theres tonnes to do, it depends what you're looking for (culture, wildlife etc), which, when you get uphill is really nice. The Cathedral has a Da Vinci tour (part of the movie was filmed there) and the Castle is another place to visit. There are a lot of nice eateries up here too..Cafe Zoot is a nice place to eat, and quite reasonable too (In Bailgate at the top of steep hill). Shopping here is fab too (but bring your walking shoes..steep hill does no favours when you're in heels-from experience!).

Brayford waterfront hires out boats, (think its about £20 an hour) to go on the canal with.

There are a few museums, one is called the collection which is free entry.

Cleethorpes in NE Lincs has a theme park (about an hours drive from Lincoln)

If you are after wildlife typie stuff, Elsham Hall in Brigg see www.elshamhall.co.uk they have an animal farm and lovely gardens, I used to love it there when I was younger.

Rand Farm Park is another, where kids can cuddle the animals.

Market Rasen has the race course (may need to check if theres racing though).

Skegness is also good for a day out, they have a seal sanctuary there.

Hope this has given you some ideas?!

I'll look at Rand Park Farm, and Poultry Mad looks good. I might ask dad politely if we can go :D:D

The lady who rents out the cottagey placed phoned mom to say there is no-one in it tonight so we can go as early as we want, which was nice, and the best bit, she said not to take any eggs

They have a chicken coop in our garden so we get the eggs :D Chickens! Good news eh :!:

Well to be honest, we had booked a cottage with it's own fishing lakes on a farm so that took a lot of our time up, plus we visited skegness etc. We have been there so many times before that this was just a holiday to relax and chill rather than sight see, but it's a beautifull area of the country I love it there.
