Angels4
What I've read is that people that are using DE is that is lowers blood pressure, cholesterol, helps with joint pain, cleans the colon, and just makes people feel better. When I get home from work this evening I'll try to figure out how to post a link to the info.
Louise
Assuming you mean Diatomaceous earth Quite a few people use it for parasite control
Angels4
Not yet! Tell us more. I couldn't figure how to do a link but here is the name of the site (listed below). There are testimonals from people whosay they use diatomaceous earth for all types of aliments with great success. I'm not sure I want to try this based on the opinions of strangers so was wondering if any of your friendly Omleteers had tried it. If you have how do you use it and whats it taste like? www.earthworkshealth.com
Egluntyne
Fascinating! Have you tried it yet Angels 4? Where is the form member who studied diatoms for their higher degree? I wonder if they know about human use? Can we buy food grade DE in the UK, I wonder?
Louise
A load of us bought a part sack that was imported a while back and it got stuck in customs for ages Then Nicola sent us out our share which arrived when I had a lodger staying and it was hilarious when I opened my jiffy bag containing a clear bag of unmarked white powder
The Dogmother
The one that Wiggly Wigglers sell is supposed to be food grade. I can't see that it'd harm humans (Louise, and ideas?). I give it to all my animals in their feed.
Egluntyne
So....who is going to try it first?
Angels4
So....who is going to try it first? I'm going to do a little more research first, and I will let you know.
The Dogmother
The link posted quotes someone mixing it with water. I haven't tried this, but guess that it's float on the top and not mix in. I will try to remember to bung some in water later and see what happens.
Louise
It definitely won't dissolve but you may be able to mix it into a paste if you use a little water Shouldn't think it would harm a human but I am not about to try it
The Dogmother
I tried to dissolve it and it won't mix with the water as Louise says.
Angels4
I tried it with water and it didn't work, So now I'm mixing it in with my yougurt (one heaping tablespoon full). I will either let you all know how it's going, or I will stop posting because I've been poisoned.
xChicken04x
Interesting . I need to order some more for the chooks. I just know temptation will get the better of me and I'll have to dip my finger in . Is it the same stuff on Omlet? If it's all natural it shouldn't do any harm will it? I am slightly worried about Angels4, he hasn't posted for a while . xx
Angels4
No worries....I'm still here. I'm not sure of the DE sold through Omlet (as I'm in the US) but I got my food grade DE certified organic and all natural by OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) from a company here called My Pet Chicken. xChicken04x
Hmmm even more interesting . I like the idea of having glossier hair (it's been dyed too many times!) Also something about helping prevent cancer, which my family has a long history of. Also stronger joints, I've become a bit weaker with my M.E and would rather not take tablets for. I might give it a try. xx
WitchHazel
I think the health/benefit claims relate to silica. As DE is predominantly Silica (84% according to that website), then the health benefits of DE are assumed. If you see what I mean. So, if you want the health benefits, consume silica. And they are promoting DE as a source of Silica.
Angels4
Feeling great and still using DE (food grade) in my yogurt.
WitchHazel
Hi Mark, good to hear from you. What sort of differences have you noticed since you started eating it? Is there anything specific (like the article claims), or is it more of a general feeling of wellness?
Angels4
More an overall feeling of wellnes, I can say though friends and family are commenting on my skin. I'm hearing alot of "Someone got some sun." I haven't, as I'm not the type to just sit in the sun and bake. What I'm hoping for is on my next doctors visit to be told my blood pressure and cholesterol go down. Also during a pedicure, I recieved a fungus in one of my toes under the nail, which is very hard to clear up without medication I've taken some before pictures (which I promise I won't share) and I'm hoping the after pictures will show a clear, fungus free nail bed. WitchHazel
Thank you for that. I might try it, if I can find some food grade DE in the UK.
