Guest
I am thrilled to see an advertisement for Animal Welfare Sunday which this year is concentrating on intensive poultry farming. It's on October 5th and is being advertised by the Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals. I know there are several church-going people on the forum, so I thought I would post this so that you can encourage your church to put on a special service. In the book of Genesis, God entrusts the care and welfare of animals to human beings. Even if you don't usually go to church, you might consider asking your church to support this. For those near enough there will be a special service in Rochester Cathedral on Saturday 4th October at 3:15pm. The speaker will be the Bishop of Rochester, Right Reverend Dr Michael Nazir-Ali. Here is a link to the website from where you can request service packs and ideas etc. http://www.aswa.org.uk/animalwelfaresun.html

Cate in NZ
Oh, not long ago I would have been able to get to Rochester cathedral for what sounds like a really interesting service ........ sadly can't contemplate it now. I love Rochester Cathedral though, attended a few services there over the years .
Guest
I quite like Rochester too - and it's a lovely old town to visit anyway.
Snowy
Thanks for that Ginette - I'll see if our church will support this!
Guest
Unfortunately, my hens have already been invited to church on October 12th. We are going to support a project called 'Hatch a Plan' which is about setting up families in Africa with hens. I can't find anything about it on the internet and my vicar is away now, but he hastily asked if I would be able to bring some girls in for the service. I don't know if he'll be willing to feature chickens two Sundays in a row, but I'm going to give it a try! At least I could write something about it in the magazine.
