Look what we have been doing all weekend....

All we need now is the roof on, the door on and the husband needs to make the eglu access door (that is what the hole on the side is for) also a table for the eglu to sit on. Ohhhh and the kick boards. I am going to make some shower curtain water proof blinds as I have seen on other forumites walk in runs. I think we will put that rush screening on the back of it too. Then to add the fun stuff for the chooks. I think I might buy one of those childrens benches.

We are trying to get them into it, even if some of the stuff isn't done, like the blinds, eglu table (it can sit on the floor for a bit) as long as it is fox proof that is our main concern. We had to take the eglu and run that the chooks are living in at the mo off the slabs as we needed them for this run and so they are back on soil till this is finished and it has been less than 24hrs and I can already smell them :?

What do you think? Any ideas for us? Anything you can see that may need changing?

Looks really good! My mum has a home made run that looks very similar. She found that her little escape artists liked to nip out of the door as soon as she opened it! She made another panel the width of the door but about a foot high and hung it in the bottom of the doorway. She could then step over it and close the door behind her without them slipping through. She has also built a smaller 'hen door' for the girls to enter and exit them selves into omlet netting. She is also planning on adding a plank depth of wood round the bottom to stop all the run contents being kicked out. You might like to consider that?

Looks neat so far. Well done

excellent effort for 1 weekend... well done !

may I be so bold as to make one suggestion ?

put a skirt around the bottom, at least 4" high, to stop them kicking all your bedding out.

I started with 5", but they still managed to kicked half the Easibed out whilst scratching, so I added another 4" and that works a treat... you'll thanks me later :D
