chooks in or near Telford

Recommended Posts

Hi

Wernlas between Craven Arms and Ludlow is great for poultry. They have all sorts of weird and wonderful (and not so weird) breeds. About half a mile off the A49 so prob about 30 mins from you as it is from Shrewsbury. They are very helpful and will give you as much advice as you need to make the right choice. I don't know of anywhere else in Shropshire that you can get any.

Good Luck

I can't remember if I phoned them first or not.

They are by Onibury so if you are coming from Craven Arms you will go over a level crossing and then the turning which is signposted is about 50 yards on the right hand side. Really easy to find. Take some corn with you as you can feed them and there are loads and loads and loads  plus take some boots with you as they are all out on the fields and with all the rain it will be quite muddy

Let me know how you get on  how's your puss today?

I will do, sounds like loads of fun. I'm sure my daughters will have a blast

My cat is back to normal thank goodness (well as normal as he gets  ) I honestly don't know what it is with him. None of the others give me so much trouble

There's always one :lol:  Good news that he's back to normal.

Your daughters will love it - far too much choice though

lol  Honestly it is loads of fun having a pen. I have a mum and 4 2 week old kittens in mine at the moment.

NOOOOOOO!!! I couldn't give them up

All 6 of mine are CP rescues. I had 4 and we had to have our oldest girl euthanased and so 6 months down the line I decided to get another one and ended up with another 3!:lol: fortunately apart from Ashley I'm on my own  Who needs an OH? Cats are far less hassle!

I should imagine the rewards are fantastic with having the pen, but unfortunately I'm at work during the day and although I pop home at lunch time, I couldn't bear to leave them locked up all that time.

You'll have one by the end of the week then  I'd love one. Someone at work has one ragdoll and a maine coon. They are absolutely huge. I certainly wouldn't want to try going to bed with one of those on top of the quilt  I had to turf my lot off as there wasn't room for me with 6 of them :lol:

I've seen the pens at the Shrewsbury (Wem) branch so I assume they are pretty much the same. They are quite a size. I've only got a smallish garden so there isn't really anywhere that is suitable. They even asked if I could turn over a spare bedroom to them but I just know I couldn't let them go. I don't know how you do it

I managed 4 cats and 1 ex OH. Now 6 cats and no OH and life is purrfect :lol:8)

I used to have them in my dining room until I got the pen. Nothing cuter than little baby kitty noises in the morning to greet you at breakfast :P Honestly you don't get as attached as you might think, you know in your own mind they aren't yours and just enjoy the babies for a little while. I love it to bits.

I'm sure you are right but I just don't know how I could let them go. I'd be double vetting everyone that came to see them and finding any excuse not to let them go . It must be lovely having the kittens. I had all mine spayed and neutered once they reached 6 months so never had the joy of babies. Parsley and Daisy were only 7 weeks old when we had them so they were still tiny .

I'll have to see how things pan out in time and if I can I might have a look at fostering at some point. I need to harden up a bit first

I know Donnington (although not that well). Have you been to Hoo Farm with your daughters that's not too far away from you? Ashley used to love it there when he was little.

It must be quite a difference for you from Scotland. Did you have to move with your job or just to chose to relocate? I get itchy feet to move away sometimes, but Shropshire is a lovely (although very rural) county.

oh yes we've been to Hoo farm :D My girls love it to bits. Especially the sheep derbies

We moved to telford basically to relocate. We lived in Aberdeen before that (from Glasgow originally) and we hated it, especially living in a top floor flat in a run down area. So we moved here as we have family in the area. And we all love it. Especially having a big garden and being able to keep chickens, cats and start a wee veggie patch :D

The sheep derbies are great :o) and bottle feeding the newborn lambs - I think I used to go more for me than him

Crikey it's quite a change for you then. I bet you do love it. I certainly couldn't live in a city I value the countryside being on my doorstep far too much. I should think it's like a change of life to have your garden and all the animals then 8)

heh heh  I never play the blasted thing, but she does, religously every wednesday and saturday. So we are promised a good share if she ever wins.

Didn't get to wenlas today as kids wanted friends over, and I cant go tomorrow, so heaven knows when I'll get a chance before the kids go back to school. Typical
