Katyed
Hi I've been looking at second hand eglus. I've noticed one that has a damaged tray - the bit I think where the chickens lay? Looking at new eglus it looks like they have a small hole in the tray but the damanged one looks bigger. Does anyone know what this is for and if it would be a problem? Also can anyone tell me how their eglus are doing? Do they last well? Thanks
Yolky
Eglus do last really well. My friend has one of the original mark 1 eglus and that is still in great condition after more than 3 years use. There is a hole at the bottom of the nest box, I think it is for dranage. I saw the one on ebay with the bigger hole, it looked a little to me like something had tried to nibble its way into the eglu.
chelsea
we sold our 1st green eglu earlier in the year and at 18months old it was in very good condition, it had a couple of scratches on the top but apart from that it performed and looked like new. I would have loved to have kept it but we got the cube.
BeckyBoo
I've got an old mark 1 that I've borrowed, it had been sitting rotting in a yard for goodness knows how long but it's scrubbed up OK. It's a bit stained on the roof where mould had sort of grown in to the top but then as no one had been looking after it I guess that's no surprise. All the bits are still working, I'm quite impressed with it (and I want to keep it ) Mrs B
Egluntyne
You can buy replacement bases. If you give Omlet a ring, they will give you the details.
Katyed
Thanks for the replies. Also in relation to buying second hand can anyone give me a rough idea of what sizes the run breaks down into for transport?
