littleredhen
I am getting 2 silkie bantams in a week or so but have also been offered another silkie (full size and a silkie x black rock. We have an eglu and they would be free ranging much of the time. Would the eglu be big enough for 2 bantams and 2 full size silkies (I am not too sure how big the full size silkies are) or should I just get the 2 bantams. Egluntyne
Should be OK as Silkies aren't very big, and if they are going to have plenty of opportunity to free range. There may be a bit of a problem if there is an age discrepency though.
beach chick
I've got 3 silkie bantams and 2 teenage 'big girls' in one eglu, with 3 laying girls in the other. I think, as egluntine says, that what matters more is the run/outside space, although there is technically a thing about 4 chickens per nesting box - we havent got that far yet, so I'm waiting to see what happens!
