A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I finished these gloves off today. I can't do 'proper' gloves (I'm a bad and lazy knitter), but these are really easy. I cast on 30 stitches on to size 6 needles (I think - they're just bog standard needles for double knit wool) in plain stitch as the 'length' of each glove (from wrist to the base of my fingers), then just carried on knitting rows until I could pull the knitting the whole way round my hand. I then stitched up a quarter of the way in from each edge to leave a big thumb gap (about half the length of the glove, but in the 'middle' of the glove), and sewed some buttons on to funk them up. They don't go with anything because the wool was some crazy old 1980s stuff I had knocking around but I think they'll keep my hands warm enough in the autumn. Couperwife
I cant see the image the gloves sounds like a good idea though Im a lazy knitter, I prefer instant gratification, I usually knit with huge needles and chunky wool great for scarves and shawls (my mum has 2 now ) cathy x
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Oop! There we go. Using the right link helps! Me too. Fat, fat needles and wool like rigging rope. Brilliant! That said, these ones are about three hours per glove, so a weekend's lazy knit. I like to do something like this when camping, of an evening, so these ones have a lovely campfire smokey smell. Although a fat wool scarf can take that time and be Doctor Who length! Anna x
