peanut12
Hi all One of our school hens looks to be in a very bad way. She has been quiet for a couple of days and now seems to be struggling to stand, especially on her left leg. She also has her eyes closed most of the time. Her comb also has a purple tinge - unlike her normal vibrant red. I have an appointment at the vet for her tonight at 4:30 , we have her seperated from the rest and have given her water, food and bedding. Is this likely to be the end, because obviously the students are asking questions.
Egluntyne
Poor thing. Here's hoping it is something that can be treated. Let us know how you get on.

peanut12
Sadly, it was not good news. george passed away on Friday. Seems she had developed a hard lump in her crop and as a result, she could not digest her food properly - as such she lost weight very rapidly and couldn't hold on. It's the first death we've had and as an ex-batt, considering the life she had before, at least she had 7 good months.
Egluntyne
Sorry to hear it. You are right to console yourself with the thought that her last few monthes were spent in freedom.
