Leicester_H
Got some Flubenvet. I think it says *THE CALCULATION* For 1000 pheasants use 3.9 x 240g tubs over 7 days - So this equates to 936g So 1 pheasant needs 0.9g over 7 days. Also, it says under other species Pheasants 240g per 100kg food, Chickens 120g per100 kg food So I assume that chickens need half the dose of pheasants So my chickens would each need 0.45g over 7 days Q1. Is this correct ? *THE REALITY* Q2. I have good kitchen scales but not at the gram level - what do people do - simply a good estimate ? Is it dangerous to OD ? How critical is it to get dose right ? Is there a practical measure of (0.45/7)g of Flubenvet eg. is it about the amount that sticks to half a grape ? What do people actually do ? Thanks in advance, H
Egluntyne
5g per 4kg of feed. This ratio to be fed over 7 days. An infinitesimally small amount of Flubenvet to mix with a large anount of feed admittedly. Some foll prefer to dip half a grape in a tiny bit of Flubenvet and feed this every day for seven days. Have a look **here** for more info.
Leicester_H
Hi Since mine tend to scoup the pellets onto theground to eat, I don't want to waste teh powder so was looking for individual doses. They have just had a dose each on a slice of banana. Boo noticed powder and didn't eat it all but chickki fell for it !! H
Egluntyne
5g is only one approx teaspoonful. They eat the correct dose if it is mixed in with the feed, as they take in the correct amount according to their weight. You could measure out 5, divide it into seven, then divide each 7th by the no of hens you have, and slit a sultana open and place the daily dose in that. I always found that I had some hens overdosed that way, and some untreated. You could sprinkle some sweetcorn with 1/7th of 5 grammes every day for a week and give it to them that way. A bit hit and miss, but if they like sweetcorn.........
Lisa
I am feeling particularly blonde this evening! How much should you give to each chicken? Is this 5g in 4kg per chicken over 7 days? Sorry and I haven't even had a glass of wine to blame this evening!
Egluntyne
It takes a bit of thinking about! Mix the 5g of Flubenvet into the 4 gkg of pellets, and put this out for all the hens. If they scoff this in 3 or 4 days, mix up the same ratio and put it out for them again. I see you have 3 hens, from your signature, so 4 kg feed should be heaps for them over the week. After the week is up, discard the treated pellets and feed them ordinary ones. They will all get the correct amount for themselves, based on their weight and the amount they eat. Sandychick
You could sprinkle some sweetcorn with 1/7th of 5 grammes every day for a week and give it to them that way. A bit hit and miss, but if they like sweetcorn......... I found this a really good method. The powder sticks to the sweetcorn if it is slightly damp. The sweetcorn can then be spread over a big area so that they all get an equal chance. Gobbled up and job done in no time!
