Hello!

 

I have had some 'putty brown' (shop-bought coloured eggs) for a while now from one hen. But last week I had a couple of 'white' ones. The middle two of these are the brown and white eggs:

 

 

But since Friday, there have been two brown eggs per day. No whites.

 

What I'm trying to work out is, do I have two or three layers? So is the initial one who laid the brown eggs still doing fine, but the white egg layer is having a bit of an off period again, and a third egg layer has started laying browns?

 

Or is the 'white later' now laying darker eggs? Can eggs change colour a bit while they 'bed in' with laying?

My Cynthia has always laid very pale brown eggs. But this weekend she has laid pure white eggs. Don't know why but she seems fine so I'm not going to worry about it.

Mine lay quite dark brown eggs, but one day I got this.......

It caused me all sorts of confusion about who was laying what

They do occasionally lay a very pale coloured egg, as if they have no pigment to put in it! If persistant, it can be a sign of worms.

Woah. Hardcore egg colouring changing! Did you get to the bottom of it, Sandychick?

 

Snowy - any other signs for worms, and any preventative measures for anti-worm gut health other than the vinegar in the water thing?

We've had 3 white eggs from Daphne who normally lays pale brown eggs - about 2 weeks apart. A couple of them had quite a thin shell as well, but the next egg was back to normal. She's just been wormed, and seems as healthy as anything.
