Hi

I got my four hybrids from Jude at Cotswold Chickens at Hawthorn Stud, Stoke Newington, Banbury (tel. 01608 683912). She was very helpful and also stocks feed, etc.

Web page is http://www.cotswoldchickens.com

Good luck in your search

I can recommend Jude too; she's a good friend and just up the road.

Have you emailed barbara@omlet.co.uk? She has a list of breeders/suppliers who have been recommended by Omleteers

Are you near Banbury then Eggs?

hiya,

thank you all for your replies.

We think we're gonna go to cotswolds because we like the way we can get everything we need in one place.

oh another quick question..... will the chooks be ok in the car for an hour and 30 minutes. i'm just worried if this will stress them out too much?

thanks

oh thats a shame, we were going to go this weekend. but my husband still hasnt finished (or shall i say started) the run. so we're probably going to go up next weekend instead. i am very excited now. although most of my friends and family think i'm mad cos most of my time is taken up with my 5 yr old son and 9 month old daughter. oh and can't forget foxy our 7 month lab cross (she looks just like a fox, hope she doesn't scare the chickens. lol) but i'm sure i'll fit them in.

we're thinking of getting 4, do you think thats to many to start with? our coop should take 8. I guess we'll speak to them at cotswolds and see what they say.

also my mum mentioned that when she worked at a playgroup some of the kids got salmonella from petting the chickens at a farm. is this likely to happen with my kids? i think they are vaccinated at cotswolds does this mean they wont pass it on?

thanks

Four is a good number :D

Salmonella shouldn't be a problem, just remind the little uns to wash their hands regularly. My grand parents had planty of chooks and I don't remember us having salmonella at all, in fact they had the 'speck of dirt' philosophy and I have a very strong immune system as a result.

I use a handwash I make up myself, I use Bio-D washing up liquid (very gentle and no chemicals) with a few drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil.
