buffie
Just wanted to post a couple of things as it's so hot. Saw my mum suffer from dehydration some years ago and it's dreadful. She looked like she was near death and had to be hospitalised to be rehydrated. This happened in the states. We all know they tell us to drink more water but please do take that advice seriously and don't wait to be thirsty just drink.. If you are physically active you can use a sports drink to add the extras lost in sweat but something we were told was to have pretzels and salty snacks to take in lost salts. Top tip on the news yesterday was a frozen plastic bottle of water placed in front of a fan and that cools the air. Keep cool guys BBx
AnnieP
Good one Buff: Off to a conference today with over 100 other poor souls in a stuffy town hall.... sounds like a ball! The water bottle will be accompanying me!
Lesley
Thanks Buffie - a good reminder I have a big problem with not feeling thirsty. I have to drink on the hour every hour as it is and have to drink more when it is very hot.
Mrs Frugal
I know I don't drink enough during the day. I must put some water in the fridge - that might encourage me if it's nice and cold! Thanks for the reminder Buffie. Sensible advice.
Guest
Of course, you could all move up here, where we've had thunder storms and chucking rain since Sunday afternoon!!

buffie
I've got the air conditioning unit ready to go in my garden room. It's a real hassle as it makes a noise but otherwise it'll be 35 degrees and I'll have fainting clients, a good investment a couple of years ago! We've done our walk while it was cool here, I've also started wearing a hat and not walking in the extreme heat , getting some sense now I'm 40. I have to make myself drink too, forget so carrying a plastic cup around with me filled with cold filtered water. Well might catch some tennis later and pop on here of course, BBx
One Man Banned
now I really am feeling blue buff - can I come and sit in your garden room with air con! We went for a drive in the car last night just to chill right down with the air con full blast (thank god i have a work car as I used 1/4 tank yesterday afternoon ) Ah well, I get to drive in a brand new Mercedes at the mo - minus pass door mirror and a big smash down it - an unrentable so I can have it! Really don't want to go to work this afternoon as it was really really hot there yesterday - we are the only hire company with air con in the office but I was covering the front counter yesterday and its hot out there! Anyone fancy doing my shift - I'm off to Buffsters!
buffie
Come on over Andrew ... We can have a beer when I finish work. It doesn't work wonderfully but we've found that putting water in from the fridge gives it more chill and so I am hopeful to get a cool room. I woke up with icy feet two nights running so it should be cooler. My poor old escort has no rear view mirror as the heat made it fall off but mikey has just called and the garage have said they'll re fit it as they did it in jan. I have been driving along holding it on for about a month BBx
