As red mite live on wood, is it necessary to put Diatom on the plastic bars ?

Come on plastic roosting bar owners . I need to know if I can stop using Diatom .

I haven't used it on my plastic roosting bars Vicki, but then I didn't when I had the wooden ones I only used the Red mite stuff. I use the Diatom in their dustbath and food.

Hmm, I used to brush Diatom on the bars and (still) put Red Mite Powder in the nestbox so they could powder their own noses (so to speak ) . I never know what's the right way to use these things .

Just to be on the safe side! actually I don't put it on the bars, as such, I put it down the sides where the bars rest ... I know it's probably unlikely, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

When I give the Eglus and Cube a major clean, I put diatom in all the nooks and crannys, including some on the plastic bars.

I stopped using it when i got plastic bars and just put it in their food.

I uset everywhere. Cuts down on the smell too.
