Advice please on supplement re softees daily 4 1 chook!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I can guess who might be able to andwer this.

I have been using shell max(to go in water) on my 3 ex bats.

it's been great but I now have 1 girl that day in day out is laying softees.

I do think that one night when she & her pal slept in the bathroom, that she may have laid 1 good un.

I even put some shellmax straight on some cheese for her for days still no dif.

She is fairly well featherd up, but I feel somewhat underweight, though she is eating well. But her mate is Boss chook & the biggest of my girls, she really is BIG.

So I wondered if she has to compete too much for food & have been feeding her special extras on her own.

I also wondered if the shell max only works if in the water so bought some limestone flour.

How much should I give (I know you not too scientific but experienced) and how soon do you think I might see some easier egg laying for her, as it can't be doing her much good trying so hard all the time.

The other 3 (including my poor wee injured girl are producing fine now except for the one strange day!

I am really confused.

Last night I felt these was a softee coming from that Hen, this morning nest box soaked & the remains in there.

Other Hen Meany comes out she(Greedy) stays in I see an enornous softee complete Now .Meany biggest normally has biggest eggs.

I see her pop back in.

Go down to look see Greedy ok,

Greedy on the emptied out nestbox but there is a smaller normal egg in another bed. She still hasn't come out, though to go back & sit for 1/2 hor an hour or so after a softee is normal for her.

Just reading this post with interest as I have an ongoing softie egg problem with Phoebe, and this is the 2nd time this week I have heard about egg drop syndrome - I've never heard of it before, and it hasn't been mentioned as a possiblity for Phoebe by either of the 3 vets she's visited  What is it Eglutine? and what are the symptoms?
