peanut12
I've read the thread on hatching which is very informative, but i have one question: A friend of mine says you have to feed the hatched chicks every 2 hours with a pippet. This does not seem right to me - can anyone out there clarify this for me?
aaronmusgrove123
noooooo you dont she is thinking of a normal birds in a nest . i have just hatched out 2 baby silkie's and all you do is leave them in the icubator until they dry and put them under heat with some chick crumb its very easy you dont have to feed them every 2 hours thanks aaron
Egluntyne
Chick crumbs and water....no pipettes involved. This is probably not the best time of year to be thinking of hatching, and it is best to make decisions and arrangements about what you plan to do with any boy chicks before you start. Lesley
Good advice above - what on earth was your friend thinking As Egluntine says, probably not the best time of year as the weather will be pretty cold when it comes to putting them outside......3 weeks to incubate, then 6 weeks under heat....... peanut12
Thanks for that folks. Won't be doing until Easter at the earliest. I have found a breeder who will loan us an incubator and take any boys off our hands. Kids at school will love it
