Emma&lewie
Hello! Im in need of advice my chikens are misbehaving, we have recently build a run extention for our chicken coop however one of my girls keeps escaping, I have not seen how she has been getting out and unless the others have been learning the art of levitation ,I am puzzled as its 5 foot tall!!! we have clipped her wings but she still managing to get out! no visible holes can be seen in or around the bottom of the run! Also the girls have really helpfully started to lay ther eggs in the poop tray under their perch so it always lands in bedding and poo (nice!!) they do have two lovley safe nesting boxes which they have used until last week when it seems they have decided its far to much like hard work to go in to the boxes!!!! any help and advice on how I can make them behave?!!!!! Many thanks. Emma

Ain't Nobody Here
Is there anything she can jump onto first before getting over? They're quite good at working out ways to get up high first before taking off!
Hen Watch
I was thinking the same thing..... do you have any conveniently placed launch pads to hop over the fence, compost bin, garden chair etc. My Amber Star would regularily get over the 4ft netting into the veg bed. We clipped one wing and she still managed it. But now she is 1 year older, she doesn't fly over my 4ft Omlet fencing at all. Never in fact. Only the Pepperpot managed it but then she used the Eglu as a launchpad when I positioned it too close to the fence. So maybe they will just get older, heavier and grow out of it.??????????/ Or maybe you have a flighty breed that will easily clear 5ft?????????? Egluntyne
Mine frequently flap over the netting from the top of the Eglu.
Emma&lewie
I think I have found out that she is using a tree stump as a launch pad- I have higherd the run on that side so fingers crossed! I didnt mind them free ranging but as I have two young children they were consatntly walking chicken poo in the house on to my cream carpet!!!!! ( well as cream as a carpet can be with two boys and a messy hubby!! ) as for the eggs being laid in the poop tray, I have put the china egg back in the box, and there were two eggs in the rig t place thismorning, just one more chook to train!! I do love them ..... such a challange!!!
