Jane 20
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but one of our hens will not allow anything in the nesting box. As fast as we put in new hemcore (or anything else) she's in there s"Ooops, word censored!"ping it out Yesterday she even pushed an egg out We have tried putting different stuff in but she's still the same. Does anyone have any idea why she does this
The good lifers
Not sure, ours tugs the newspaper out from under the roosting bars?? They seem to do it for fun!
chickenanne
Mine all scratch about to make a nice "nest" in the box, is it just that she's doing that a bit over-enthusiastically? In which case, maybe trying to make a (temporary) much larger and deeper nestboxand filling it really full with nesting material might help. Once she imporves you could swop back to the "proper" nest box.

Jane 20
I'd like to think so but the more we put in the more she wants it out. She is not happy until the nestbox is empty. The hemcore etc is split over into the poo tray and makes that difficult to take out its very strange
